CalDAV

Post by cavj1 »

Hi All...

Does CalDAV not work with application passwords? When trying to sync it tells me bad password. We have MFA turned on so it really needs to be an application password and not the default webmail password.

We are running 8.8.15

Thanks
Joe

HI,

Have you set the application passcode from the web?
Pls share the exact steps you followed.
It should look like this on the web mail.

I know this reply is exceptionally late but thank you for your reply. I did get this working in 8.8.15 but since upgrading to 10 CalDAV no longer syncs. Generally I've been using Morgan Calendar and now post upgrade it says the credentials are invalid. I created a new application code and it still says it is invalid.

Enable delegation for Applie iCal CalDAV client is enabled. Not sure if that is really needed as it isn't an Apple device I'm syncing but it is enabled.

Any known CalDAV sync issues with 10?

Thanks
Joe

Have you tried setting up the calendar in Thunderbird? I just tested CalDAV sync between Thunderbird and Zimbra 10.0.6 with 2FA enabled and it worked correctly.

Greetings from 2025!

I believe the default URL that Thunderbird would use on an account for CalDAV is https://our.hostname/home/account@our.h ... lendar.ics ?

We just tested that with Zimbra 10.1.4_GA_4720 (build 20241203060230) and a browser: the URL is accessible without MFA enabled (using the normal account password), but enabling MFA for the account makes it inaccessible (tried both a configured application password, and also the normal account password).

Interstingly, the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford indicates in their guide this should work with an application password:
If you have configured thunderbird to also access your Zimbra calendar via caldav then you need to use this 'application password', together with your usual username, when it prompt for the calendar connection.
Would this use of CalDAV perhaps be on a different port than the default 443, which is implicitly used above?
