Hello fellow admins 8)
I'm wandering what would be the "best" practise for backuping a Network Edition, for little companies (with no SAN nor terabytes backup libraries)...
How do you guys backup your data ?
Backup to local HD then tape backup (tape attached to the Zimbra server) ?
Backup to local HD then sync with another server (or NAS) and tape backup it ?
Backup to another server (or NAS) and tape backup it ?
Invested in a networked Backup Library (but still, does it backup the data set on the Zimbra server directly or through a NAS) ?
Something else ?
Of course, same question applies to restore (direct to the Zimbra server or through a NAS)...

Would doing a rsync on the /opt/zimbra folder to a remote computer be a sufficient backup method? Then you don't have to worry about tapes either.

Just rsync is not enough (from my point of view), unless the "other computers" is miles away from the Zimbra server...
Also "just rsync" won't give you historical backups (you know, when your user comes crying because "I deleted a file last week and I absolutely need it").
rdiff or rsync-backup maybe ?

Yes, that is what I was thinking. Differentiated. I haven't used tapes in years, they are a pain in the butt.
